    U.S. Rig Count Down 81 and Canada Down 11 Rigs from Previous Year

    According to Baker Hughes data from October 4th, 2013, the U.S rig count for this week is 1,756 rigs exploring for or developing oil or natural gas. This count is an increase of 12 rigs when compared to last week, with oil rigs up 10 to 1,372 rigs, gas rigs up 2 to 378 rigs, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 6 rigs. Compared to last year the 1,756 count is a decrease of 81 rigs, with oil rigs down by 26, gas rigs down by 59, and miscellaneous rigs up by 4.

    The Canadian rig count decreased by 29 to 361 rigs this week, with oil rigs down 23 to 209 rigs, and gas rigs down 6 to 152 rigs. Compared to last year the 361 count is a decrease of 11 rigs, with oil rigs down by 66 and gas rigs up by 57. International rigs decreased by 38 to 1,267 rigs for the month of July, an increase of 6 rigs from the same month one year ago.
