Flat Rolled Pricing Cycle Rises as Spot Price Gains Made During October
Written by John Packard
As we entered the month of October, flat rolled prices had been trending sideways for a number of weeks. On October 1st Steel Market Update measured benchmark hot rolled coil with an average of $635 per ton which was actually down slightly from the $640 recorded at the end of September.
However, the mills had announced new price increases during that first week and prices began to rise as the month progressed. By the end of the month spot hot rolled prices had risen to $665 per ton, up $25 per ton since the beginning of the month.
