Horizon Steel Expanding Operations into Kentucky

    Written by Sandy Williams

Horizon Steel Company, plans to build a 90,000 square foot service center facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The $15 million project is expected to provide 30 new full-time positions in the region. The facility will be part of a co-located operation that will span approximately 150,000 square feet in the Kentucky Transpark and will also serve as a production plant and U.S. headquarters for the Bilstein Group, a producer of cold rolled steel products.

The expansion follows an agreement by Horizon, a steel service center with facilities in Illinois and Michigan, to be the exclusive processing partner of German-based Bilstein.

Bilstein recently announced a $120 million project for Bowling Green and Warren County that will include a cold rolling mill, slitting operations and advanced annealing furnaces. Bilstein will produce steel for use by automotive manufacturers and their suppliers.
