Currency Update for Steel Trading Nations
Written by Peter Wright
The value of the U.S. dollar has been one of the main themes affecting commodities around the world, including steel prices. The Russian ruble collapses making their steel the cheapest in the world. They, in turn, put pressure on the Chinese (who already are having issues due to their massive over-capacity of steelmaking) who are trying to export their way out of trouble. The results have been catastrophic for the U.S. steel industry.
We mentioned currency again the other day when introducing one of our Steel Summit 2015 keynote speakers, Dr. Christopher Kuehl who will surely mentioned the subject during his presentation at the opening of our conference in Atlanta on September 1st.
