    Oil & Gas Rigs Counts for US and Canada

    According to Baker Hughes data from February 5, 2016, the U.S rig count for the week was 571 rigs exploring for or developing oil or natural gas. This is a decrease of 48 rigs when compared to last week, with oil rigs down 31 to 467 rigs, gas rigs down 17 to 104 rigs, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 0 rigs. Compared to this time last year, the 571 count is down 885 rigs, with oil rigs down 673, gas rigs down 210, and miscellaneous rigs down 2.

    The Canadian rig count increased by 11 to 242 rigs this past week, with oil rigs up 5 to 131 rigs and gas rigs up 6 to 111 rigs. Compared to last year the 242 count is a decrease of 139 rigs, with oil rigs down 53 and gas rigs down 86. International rigs decreased by 50 to 1,045 rigs for the month of January, a decrease of 213 rigs from the same month one year ago.
