Comparison Price Indices: Small Movement Higher
Written by John Packard
Flat rolled steel prices are moving higher albeit at a slow pace – especially for hot rolled coil which continues to be the weakest of the flat rolled products. SteelBenchmarker did not report new prices this week (they only report prices twice per month) so we will review what our index as well as Platts reported this past week.
Hot rolled prices averaged $410 per ton ($20.50/cwt) according to both indexes last week. Our index rose by $5 per ton while Platts remained the same.
