    Gains in Weekly Rig Count Has Ended

    According to Baker Hughes data from June 24, 2016, the U.S rig count for the week was 421 rigs exploring for or developing oil or natural gas. This is down 3 rigs compared to last week, with oil rigs down 7 to 330 rigs, gas rigs up 4 to 90 rigs, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 1 rig. Compared to this time last year, the 421 count is down 438 rigs, with oil rigs down 298, gas rigs down 138, and miscellaneous rigs down 2.

    The Canadian rig count increased by 7 to 76 rigs this past week, with oil rigs up 8 to 36 rigs, gas rigs down 1 to 39 rigs, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 1 rig. Compared to last year the 76 count is a decrease of 59 rigs, with oil rigs down 40, gas rigs down 20, and miscellaneous rigs up 1. International rigs increased by 9 to 955 rigs for the month of May, a decrease of 203 rigs from the same month one year ago.
