February Steel Exports Down 3 Percent

U.S. steel exports in February totaled 805,353 net tons (730,605 metric tons), down 3.1 percent from the month before, and down 2.7 percent from February 2017. Total exports have averaged around 820,000-840,000 tons over the last few months. The total February export figure is above the three-month moving average (average of December 2017, January 2018 and February 2018), but below the 12-month moving average (average of March 2017 through February 2018). Here is a breakdown of flat rolled and plate steel exports:
Cut plate exports decreased 8.5 percent from January to 78,592 tons, down 9.1 percent compared to levels one year ago.
