    Written by Tim Triplett

The North American Steel Alliance, the member-owned purchasing cooperative serving the metals distribution industry, has added three new members, bringing its total to 124.

Harris Steel, Cicero, Ill., is a flat rolled distributor specializing in unique steel grades, chemistries and tempers. It operates three coil-to-coil slitting lines for both ferrous and nonferrous products, supplying the appliance, automotive, computer, electronics, hardware, and lawn and garden industries.

Alkar Steel & Processing, Warren, Mich., supplies hot and cold rolled steel, high carbon spring steel, high strength-low alloy steel, coated and stainless steel products to the metro Detroit area and throughout the Midwest.

Custom Steel Processing, Madison, Ill., serves the Midwest flat rolled market with five slitting lines, one cut-to-length line, two blanking/shearing lines and a pickling line.

Collectively, NASA members represent annual revenues exceeding $9 billion. As a buying co-op, NASA’s primary business focus is to strategically link its members with the highest quality preferred suppliers.
