Except for a small decline in coated products, steel prices remained largely unchanged in the past week, according to Steel Market Update’s latest check of the market. While SMU’s Price Momentum Indicators continue to point higher, we’ll be watching closely to see if the uptrend in prices is losing steam.
Here is how we see prices this week:
Sheet prices slipped again, continuing a trend of lower week-over-week tags that began in mid-July.
Sheet prices slipped for the third consecutive week on continued discounts from certain mills for larger buyers.

The LME aluminum three-month price is moving higher again, closing the week on the morning of July 28 at $2,215 per tonne.
