CSI Opens November Flat Rolled Order Book, Raises Prices

California Steel Industries (CSI) has opened its November order book for flat-rolled steel and increased prices, according to market participants.
CSI did not specify whether it had increased prices. But it has quietly hiked prices in prior months along with the opening of books.
The latest hike was approximately $60-80 per ton ($3-4 per cwt) – with the amount varying by customer and by proximity to the mill, sources said.
“All pricing is subject to slab availability and mill capacity,” the West Coast slab converter said in letters to customers dated Thursday, Aug. 26.
“Customers are reminded that prices are subject to change at any time unless a firm price has been previously quoted and confirmed,” the company added.
The move comes one month after CSI closed its October book.
CSI, approximately 50 miles east of Los Angeles in Fontana, Calif., makes hot-rolled, pickled-and-oiled, cold-rolled and galvanized products as well as welded pipe.
